Recommended Posts

im looking at buying a new compound bow.id like to shoot it at around 40 #,s because of neck and back issues i cant go much higher, i am an adult male, most of the one,s ive seen start out at 50-70 #,s unless i look at the youth models which doesn't give me much choice, any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would highly recommend going to a pro shop and working with staff there. Most bow models come in lower poundages but because they don't sell a ton of them, they probably don't stock them except in the kids models. A good pro shop will order exactly what you want.

I checked the Mathews site and see that the Z7 and DR2 both go down to 40#. I don't have time to go through a ton of models here, but I have to believe 40# would be available on most any adult bow, but it's just a matter of sales numbers and what stores keep in stock. Like other suggested, a shop should be able to order whatever bow you like at 40#. You might also find some good used bows with for 40#-50# range.
