bucketmouth64
With the weather being so turbulent so to speak and it seems like we are in a pattern that doesn't offer stabilility what does unstable weather patterns do to the bass (assuming they've spawned)? Would they be scattered/schooled, in deep water, deep in weed? What would you be looking for when you head out to your favorite waters or new waters? SluggoMaster
This time of year I start shallow and move out until I catch them.
mainbutter
I was hucking rapalas last monday for northerns, a little north of the metro, and picked up two bonus bass, 8 FOW in tall weeds at the height of midday sun.
SledNeck
After a morning storm rolled through here yesterday, the bass wouldn't hit a slash bait. They went full on plastics!
bucketmouth64
Does a warm front(like what came thru) affect fish the same as a cold front?
Nick Kuhn
Does a warm front(like what came thru) affect fish the same as a cold front? In this instance probably not as the pressure, temperature, and wind really didn't change much. However, I do believe any storms that push through would knock them deeper. Fever
I'm thinking with the lack of stability that the majority of the fish will be negative to neutral. Because of the changing weather conditions, most fish will be less aggressive and may be deeper in weeds - thus tougher to catch. This season so far has been a challenge. It's tough to be consistent with heavy rain, huge temp swings, opressive heat, and frequent wind changes. I do think this scatters the fish more making them much less predictable. Cecil
If you think about it the weather has actually been very stable the last few days. They CRUSHED them on Tonka yesterday for the Denny's tournament.

They CRUSHED them on Tonka yesterday for the Denny's tournament. Yep, stable but oppressively hot. Fish can't control their own metabolism. When it's hot, they burn more calories and have to eat more.
thatoneguy
My best action of the year - by far - was Sunday evening. 50+ fish in the boat in just over three hours of fishing. Saturday afternoon and yesterday evening were very, very good as well. As mentioned above, the heat revs up the bass' metabolism, and they have to eateateat. Several of the chunkier bass I caught on Sunday had perch tails sticking partway out of their gullet.
Fever
Where abouts were you??? Not asking for specific lake but more general region of the state. That is unless you'd like to mention the lake name. 50 plus bass in one outing sounds like fun. I made it out to a small west metro lake (about 400 acres) Sat am and fished from 5:30 am = 11am and boated 11 nice bass and two pike. One pike measured 29 inches and the other 35.5. Fun. Both pike hit spinnerbaits after they missed on a zara spook while I was walking the dog. Pike were very very active in the shallows. I had one come completey out of the water and miss a fire tiger skitter pop. Had a pig Bass shake a topwater mouse right next to the boat just as I was attempting to lip her. I didn't get my hands on her but she went over 19 inches for sure with a big tummy. Bummer. Thats what I get for overconfidence and not using the net that was litterally a couple feet away from me. Oh well.
thatoneguy
I think I'm safe mentioning Leech Lake - lots of good water there Pulled about 25 fish out of one area not much bigger than my living room, a couple of thick patches of wild rice that were about 30 yards away from the main bed. Mainly I was throwing topwater until a got a fish (or at least a blow-up) then working the area over with a jig & craw trailer. Thought I had the bass of a lifetime on in that patch...til I got it to the surface and saw it was a bowfin of about 27". Fun fight!
Ctrl_Alt_Dlt
Ive heard and read great things about Leech lake up there. I was out on a WI lake yesterday. The bass were not active at all. They didnt chase anything. I assume they were in the thick green stuff, so we pitched jigs and worms and nothing either. Good to know bass should be more active. Somehow the WI lake I was on, they werent.
Nick Kuhn
Well, my lake, which happens to be in WI, has been a little odd. Normally this time of year I can catch all sorts of 12" right from my dock. They seem to have left completely. There were still a few in the pads last time I was up there, but for the most part they were on the weed edge where it was closest to deep water. Ufatz
Interesting comments. Here in Tumuli Country the bass fishing, at least for us, has been close to non-existent. I do not see bass off my dock as usual. I do not see bass in the shallows at all. Fish the bottom or fish the top and you get the same.......nada, zip, nuttin'.Is there something I should know? thatoneguy
I've noticed that they were a lot more concentrated during this hot weather. Big patches of dead water, but if your found a couple, you more than likely found a bunch. Not sure if the weather is a factor in that or not, but I'm tucking it away in my mind for future reference. If I can remember where I tucked it.
