Humminbird 898c mounting issue...

Whisker Warrior

Question

I just purchased the 898c and in the instructions it states to absolutely not have anything blocking the SI beams otherwise you wont get a proper reading...When i mounted mine my motor is in the way for the starboard side and it looks like i'll have to buy a Jackplate to create more space to allow for full use of SI imaging...i have a 14ft G3 flat bottom jon...Are most people running into this issue or is it more with my style of boat? Is there an alternative way to the jackplate or am i S.O.L.? Other than that i absolutely love this toy!

Is there a slight angle (dead rise) to your transom??,,,,do you have tilt and trim??? as si works better at slower speeds tilting the motor up may be an option ,,,my 898 transducer had good clearance on my lund so It may be your style of boat

My 898 has approx 1/2" of interference with the motor, I should be able to shim the motor back that far, but for now i just have the motor trimmed back a hair to compensate.

How's the interference look on the lake? Just a solid white line? is are things mostly visible?
