Trolling line counter reels

I recently purchased a Cabelas DMG20 line counter reel but was also looking at the Daiwa Sealine SG27LCA. Both were very close in price and both have very good reviews. Has anyone had any experience with these 2 reels? I know I purchased a Cabelas spinning reel last summer that was made by Daiwa. Who makes the reels and rods for Cabelas?

I have both, although I haven't used the Daiwa yet. Just got it over the winter. I like the Cabelas. Both seem to be well made. One thing I like about the cabelas over the Daiwa is that the Cabelas has a silent retrieve when the "clicker" isn't engaged. The Daiwa still clicks, albeit quieter. Otherwise, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I prefer the diawa,,,, with my depthmasters the counter seems to get reset when putting it in the rod holder so i loose my line out count ,,,that doesnt happen with the accudepths ,,,I have 12 diawas and 2 depthmasters

I have a Cabelas depthmaster that is my leadcore rod. No problems with it ever. I bought for salmon and trout fishing. Granted these were 5lb bluebacks not 20lb lakers but it has held up very well over the last 7 years.

Who makes the reels and rods for Cabelas?

The lowest bidder I would assume. It's probalby changing so often that there is not one manufacturer that does them all. Diawa, quantum, even abu now - they all come from some factroy in china.

I have a cabelas line counter and have no complaints, the nice thing about cabelas brand rods and reels is they basically come with a lifetime waranty. I've walked up to the counter with stuff a couple years old and no recipt and they let me exchange it no questions asked.
