Bino question

Recommended Posts

I am looking at getting a decent pair of binos for hunting out west. I have it narrowed down to two choices. The first being the Nikon Monarch ATB's in 10x42 and the other pair being the Cabelas XT in 10x42. I believe those are made by Pine Ridge. Just wondering if any of you have any experience with these and how those experiences were. Thanks.

I was looking at the Nikon Monarch's when I was shopping around. I liked them a lot and they were 2nd on my list of ranking the sets that I tried. I settled with Leupold's Majovie's (sp?). If you look online at Cabelas they have been running some amazing deals on them lately. I bow hunt and I like how the Leupold's are open in the center they are easier to grab with one hand. I have the 10x50's but I wanted a little bit further then the 42's because we might be going into SD or ND more often and would like the distance.

I have the Nikon Monarchs and love them. I compared them to 2 different pair of Svaroskis this year elk hunting (full disclosure: it was in broad daylight) and I couldnt tell the difference although it wasnt a real scientific test.

Code-Man...you do realize that you dont get anymore distance from the 50s than the 42s, right? that is the size of the objecitive and gives you a little more light gathering capability, but the magification is what gives you "distance" and both are 10 powers. The 50s might give you a slightly wider sight picture as well.
