Pflueger patriarch or Shimano Stradic

I am on the Shimano Pro Staff, so I am biased.. The Stradic is a great reel.. If you ever put a braid on it, the reel has a worm gear to cross wrap the line better which eliminates the line digging into the spool. Which is nice.. though it also works really well on mono and floro. That said, the other reel you mentioned is a very nice reel as well.

The Shimano will be more durable in the long run and if anything does ever happen Shimano has great customer service. The patriarch is a nice reel but I have heard people having problems with Pflueger customer service especially trying to get parts.

Isn't the spinning Patriarch brand new? It'll be tough to get any reviews, but it looks like a lighter and smoother Supreme XT. I have nothing but positive things to say about my Supreme XT. Can't comment on the higher end Shimano's but their mid-priced reels have also served me quite well.

My problem with the Stradic is, I have a lot of them, yet I don't have enough reels. grin

Shimano reels generally will have the largest main drive gear and the largest anti-reverse roller bearings. It all kind of translate into longer life for the reel.

Shimano for me. like others have said both great reels but I think the shimano will serve you longer. I like the middle priced sedona's they are exaclty what I want in a reel. So that being said you are looking to purchase something further up the scale so performance should be better and last longer.

Thanks guys, solid advice, seems like there are more shimano fans here though, I picked them both up and put them on the rod I am buying and still can't decide on what one to get...at this rate i'll be picking up one of each. The only thing I can say from the little time I had with both is that the Stradic seemed a bit short...Meaning if i didn't have my fingers tight on the rod my knuckles would get "ticked", but that is te only thing that I can find wrong with either of them so that may be the deciding factor...

We have some great deals on both of those right now. Let me know if you are interested. I have more experience with the Stradics as well. They are awesome reels, one of the lightest in it's class. But lots of folks really have good luck with the Pfluegers too. I'm not sure you could go wrong with either. Have fun with your new toys.

Both are great choices imo, have both shimano's and pfluegers. I like pfluegers because you get a lot of reel for the money. I'm am not a hard core fisherman, but have put a lot of time on Pfluger spinning reels - have never had any issues and been very happy with them.

If you are looking at the standard Stradic, it is ~3oz heavier than the Patriarch. The Stradic CI4 is more on par weight wise.

FYI .. If you care for rebates, I think there is a $15 rebate on the Patriarch.
