what does everyone use for editing software? i wanna start making my own videos but dont know what to use. thanks

I've been wondering the same thing. The program that came with my video camera just doesn't cut it. I have Windows XP on both my desktop and laptop.

For some reason Movie Maker doesn't come with Windows 7. You have to download Windows Live, which is free, if you want Movie Maker. The Windows live download has a bunch of stuff I wasn't interested in so I selected custom and only installed Movie Maker.

I just stared tinkering myself and it seems to work pretty good for the basic stuff I've done so far...

I'm sure there are better programs out there......

I use windows movie maker.

MOV files have always given my PCs the fits so I convert them using Any Video Convertor. You can download it and its free.

http://www.avs4you.com/ is what I use. Movie Maker doesn't even come close to what this software has the capabilities to do and for around $50 bucks you not only get the video editing software but all their other great programs. I too use "any video converter" (not affiliated with AVS4YOU) to re-size my HD video to a lower resolution and convert to a flv format for my HSOforum. AVS4YOU will import any format video unlike "Movie Maker". Hope this helps!

I have used Corel Videostudio and Sony Vegas Movie Studio. Both have done nice for me. I have Windows 7 and currently use Corel Videostudio right now.

I'd recommend Movie Maker for someone just getting started. Very easy, and best of all it's free.
