LMITOUT
sounds kinda fishy to me i'm thinkin these things are discussed in the drivers meeting but it could have been the spotters mistake i guess It probably is discussed, but when you have someone in your ear saying "2nd gear, 4500, at the barrels", he is probably going to listen to that as the spotter seems to have some say in what is going on. Maybe the spotter didn't see the cone and was going by the barrels, who knows. As I said, Jr. probably should have questioned it or knew better but he's usually too busy jabbering on the radio during the caution laps to pay attention. Oh well, it had little to no bearing on where he ended up after the pit stop due to the damage that had to be repaired anyway. The beginning of the race was pretty exciting. They were racing pretty hard early on....maybe a bit too hard...but it was fun to watch nonetheless. Hopefully after the resurfacing and reconfiguring of the track it doesn't lose that competitive racing.
pureinsanity
There is a lot more to racing that most people realize. Heck I pitted for a friend once at an amateur event and I thought I was just going to be watching and helping if something broke down. Heck they had charts for everything. I think I adjusted tire pressure on every tire before and after practice, heats, and main. I was running all over the place doing what they were told. There is a lot behind the scene stuff going on, and well that's why these guys get paid to do what they do because the know their stuff I didn't know much and still don't know a lot about car racing, but I do know its a lot more difficult than just what you see on TV. pureinsanity
People thrive on crashes, close calls, and rule breakers. I don't watch much nascar, occasionally I will flip it on and watch it for a little while. To me it is rather boring, now if I was driving my attitude would probably change. I grew up racing supercross and motocross, so going in cricles is a little weird to me or should I say boring. Now high flying full contact block passing whoop hitting dirt bikers are exciting and crazy there should be a motorcross forum on here!
