How does this lantern compare to the propane one any opinions?

I like mine a lot better then the propane lanterns. It's brighter and you don't have to worry about starting it up

I've got the Coleman LED lantern that I use when I camp. I like it alot, as I'm not a fan of propane at all. It has plenty of life, and is super bright.

How about for ice fishing in the portable does it light up pretty well

I can't imagine it not being plenty bright for a portable. I just use an LED head lamp and it has all the light i'd ever need for my one man. The lantern should suffice for pretty much any portable out there.

I use one of those $8 tent lights in my Otter, and there is plenty of light, almost too much.

There is a 12 V rechargeable version I have seen in use, a very nice lantern style light. Lots of light and a few settings to tune the lighting to your needs.

That new Quade L-E-D Colman is a nifty lantern, but I'm thinking it's not rechargeable. I like the detachable sections so you have light to use elsewhere and then stow them back on the lantern. But I'm fairly certain it's not rechargeable? I may be wrong?

Clam rechargable tube light! Best $30 Ive ever spent. Besides my Vexilar auger and portable this is definitely my best investment for Ice fishing. Cant forget about my rods and heater too. But Seriously I LOVE this light!!!

i have both lp and led. i think the lp gives more light but is harder to store especially when its hot and the led one that i have colapses down on itself so it stuffs under the seat in the yukon real nice. if i could find a nice hard case for the lp one or maybe just make a case then i would probably use both. lp in the shack while fishing and then led while i'm packing everything up.

no offense but I'd never buy anything clam until that company rebuilds its quality control!

Coleman does have a nice reachargeble one and the charger actually stores inside the base for easy transport.

I tried the Coleman rechargeable, the 6 volt 190 lumens, was not happy with the amount of light it put out for $26 for the lamp and another $21 for the battery not worth it. Returned the lamp kept the battery for the Big buddy fan. Bought the Rayovac 300 lumens led much better for the same price as the Coleman. Not a rechargeable it runs off 3 d cells. I like the rayovac lantern too. They put out really nice uniform light, especially when hanging upside-down with the top removed.

I agree with you on that. It is cheap plastic but it puts out alot of light for a long time, and i can hook it up to my vex when its gettin low or charge it in a car. Its just the most convenient light out there I think, but I havent really looked much..

Rayovac does seems better, 300 lumens compare to the 190. How much price differ from the coleman croixflat?

$3 to $4 more,$29.99 the Rayovac to me is better constructed than the coleman. On a set of batteries run time can be around 60 hrs on high and 150 on low. Got mine at ace hardware but I guess Home depot and menards carry them.

Well, it was Fishwater that mentioned the Rayovac last year it just took trial and error for me to find out plus the rayovac was not carried at the usual places I shop for sporting equipment.

Did the latern and have the coleman - - The head lamp wins.

Didn't care for using all the large D cell batteries and bringing more "stuff" in a crate. The headlamp gives light were I want it and most have several different levels of light.

Just picked up the Rayovac latern today. Was still iffy if it would work out to my needs but I popped in some batteries and was impressed. Will have to wait until friday to give them a shot in the clam commander. Was thinking about getting a second latern and using two in the commander.
