cannon announces 200-400F4 IS with built in 1.4x

Recommended Posts

I would guess at least $1700.00 and maybe as high as $1900.00.

.... the Nikon 200-400/4 is around $6700 with no TC, this one will easily be in the $7000 to $9000 range. I've seen talk as high as $10,000. Believe me this will not be a cheap lens to own. frown

If it's as sharp as (or sharper than) the Nikon version, it will be a phenomenal piece of kit, one I'd sell a lot of other lenses in order to own. To have a top-quality lens running from 200 to 560mm with f4 to 400mm, and newest generation IS, would be smashing!

It's what many of us have been hoping Canon would do for years. smile

Hmmmm, time to get a second mortgage on the house. gringrin

But is it F4 with the 1.4 or a 5.6 ?

I guess that is why my price was so low.

It's f4 without it and f5.6 with the TC. Just like now with any other f4 telephoto. The lens is not going to make most folks better photographers. That's more about vision, heart and inspiration than it is about gear. But gol durn it, I want one! I've long looked at the Nikon version and believed it's the perfect zoom for wildlife/avian photography! gringrin

Now three Canon lenses to do it all. OK, four. The 17-40, 100 macro, 70-200 and 200-400. smile
