Spear weight question

I'm going to upgrade spears for next season. The spear that Spearhead bought from Roger Cook is exactly what i'm looking for as far as style. My only concern is the weight of the spear(8-9pounds). My current spear is just a generic spear that weighs 4.5 pounds.

What's your guys thoughts on spear weight and has anyone else made that jump and how did it go?

personally i like a heavy spear with really good barbs that way when u spear a big pike you can just let it lie on the bottom and get the fight out of him before you bring him up. with a heavier spear he has a tougher time wiggling loose off the spear. plus if its sharp it will bury itself all the way in with just a drop of the spear instead of a throw. more accurate i guess

That makes sense nd. How about angled shots?

Laska, sounds like me and archery sniper are going to ride down to spearfest together.

IMO there's no need to be taken too many crazy low percentage outside the hole shots. Unless your spearing Whitefish in which case that's the only shot you seem to get. That's when I like the little Dillo that thing throws like a dart.

So to answer your question it's not the greatest spear for outside shots, gravity likes that spear alot.
