Ordered my GSP Pup!

I finalized my order for a GSP pup this week. I ordered from Dave Bruns at Minndakota Kennel just north of Mitchell, SD. I've got a buddy that's running one of his dogs. They are some of the most talented, driven, and great natured dogs we've seen. Minndakota Kennel breeds for specific traits they want in their dogs. Pups are bred for natural ability to point, back and retrieve. They must be biddable, and have the desire to please. Not only are they bred for hunting, they are great companions for the entire family.

FemaleDog should come into heat sometime in Feb/early March. I'm hoping for my pup to come home late May/early June. Can't wait.

With my weim turning twelve in February, I'm looking forward to a young dog to train and that will have drive in the field. The retirement next year will be bittersweet, but at least there will be a sweet side to the bitter.

Here's pics of the breeding pair:

Congrats! I put a deposit on a pup out of Willow Creek Kennels in Little Falls that will be ready to come home in April! I had a GSP for 12 years and after 3 years without a hunting partner we are getting another! I may look at Minndakota for a puppy intro program, looks like he has good set up. Enjoy!

Tough to beat the training at Willow Creek. Consider either letting them start the dog for you right away or sending up there for training. You can get incredible results if you start training the dog as early as 3 months of age, particularly a pointer that gets access to a lot of live birds.

yes, I like chad and his people. they helped me through the process which is why i ultimatley went with willow creek. I am going to bring my pup back up at 6 months and put her through a 4-6 week program (fits my budget) and do work before and after on my own. Good to hear more postitives about willow creek! cant wait for my new pup!

Well, the female didn't come into heat at all. But the breeder was able to get me into another litter. They were whelped 6/27. I will be picking up the new pup on 8/20. Wish I had her a few days earlier, but I'll take what I can right now.

I'm getting one of the liver females.
