Presco
Whats the latest on the possibility of Bass Pro coming to Minnesota? I know the MOA plan was sort of put on hold, but has anyone heard anything concrete about a store coming to the Metro Area? I like Cabelas as much as the next guy, but having a place like BPS right in the heart of Minne just makes way too much sense.
Jig Master
I haven't heard anything new about BPS in MN. Anyone ever been to Mark's outdoors in Birmingham or West End Outdoors in Athens, AL? The fact that they can fit three times the tackle selection into a shop slightly larger than the average gas station is mind boggling. Makes Gander and Bass Pro look pretty pathetic in terms of the tackle and rods/reels they carry.
mainbutter
I've heard nothing. As far as Cabelas vs. BPS, I'll be honest, I'm 1000% much more a fan of BPS. They consistently have more of EVERYTHING fishing related.I may be a bit biased growing up outside of the Midwest.
Presco
Thats my thought as well. Didn't want to offend anyone on here as I know a couple guys work there, but I think Cabelas is a great place to find hunting stuff, BPS is a great place to find fishing stuff. Cabelas is definitely the best Minnesota has for quality and quantity, but I have a hard time believing a Bass Pro wouldn't do well here with all the anglers Minnesota has. TurnUpTheFishing
Last I heard MN wasnt going to give them any tax breaks or help with constuction costs so they bailed on the mall idea. Dont quote me dont know how legit that info is.

Jig Master
One thing about Cabelas that is %1000 times better than bass pro is the way they take care of their customers. Cabelas will stand by their gear and make sure everything is right with the customer. If you bought a bass pro rod and there was a defect and you brought it back the next day, they wouldn't do jack squat for you unless you have a receipt. Cabelas is still run like a family owned business, and it is. Bass Pro is run more like a soul-less corporation. Either way I get most of my stuff now from tacklewarehouse or basstackledepot since you pay no sales tax and if you buy over $50 which I almost always do, shipping is free. Tator2k
Latest plans I've seen for MOA Phase II still has them anchoring the NE corner of the lot. But that won't be any time before 2014/15 is my guess.
mozy
I've only been to one BPS, in San Antonio. I was blown away by the variety of fishing gear and tackle, every size and color was available. It was also nice to see something other than aluminum boats. I hope it does make it to MN, as it would be a nice way to stay out of MOA. I also buy most of my stuff from TW, they are a smaller company and the service is top notch.

Tom Buckles
Wow, I am surprised to hear how impressed everyone is with BPS. I cant stand that place. I would much rather have a Cabelas or a Gander near by. Where I live, BPS is all we have and its 3 hours away. What irritates me about BPS is how their stores are set up. I can never find what Im looking for. Everything is all over the place and next to impossible to find. For instance, I went there recently to pick up a new soft sided tackle box. All the different tackle boxes are just spread out randomly throughout the fishing section. I had to go up and down 10 different isles in order to look at them all. Why now have a single isle with only tackle boxes? Also, I was looking to pick up some zoom products. You would think that all of them would be together in the same isle, but thats not the case. If you want Zoom Trick Worms, you go to one isle. If you want Zoom Swampcrawlers, you have to go find them in a different isle and so on. If Im shopping online, I do prefer BPS, because you can almost always find a 20% off promo code, but for in store shopping, Cabelas is for me. TODDY
Actually I'm not that crazy for all the big name stores. I want brand name tackle.....not "Cabela's" brand, not "Guide Gear" brand, and not "BPS" brand.I was disappointed when Sportsmans Warehouse left Minnesota. I could find more brand named products; both fishing and hunting.TODDY

If you want Zoom Swampcrawlers, you have to go find them in a different isle and so on. In my experience, Gander and Cabelas are pretty much the same way. Tube aisle, worm aisle, jig trailer aisle, etc. Zoom stuff in each one. The only product that you can find all in one spot is Yamamoto and that's because they only carry Senko's. Not that I'm complaining about that type of setup, I prefer to look for tackle according to the technique I'm using rather than have it all jumbled together.
