Solid Crisco for frying fish?

I unthawed a pile of walleye last eve and now I see I don't have any liquid cooking oil at home. Does anyone use the solid crisco or should I make the trip to town, 10 miles? I really don't want to go to town but I want to eat these fish pretty bad.

crisco works great. i use it most of the time. good luck.

Crisco is fine, just add it slowly to the frying pan. As I understand it, it doesn't have a high smoke point, like peanut oil, so keep your flame down and let it get to temp slowly.

Put a little butter in there with the crisco for a little more flavor, just remember to keep the temp down. Good eatin!

When I was a kid it was either Crisco or Lard!! That little butter at the end will brown'em up good!!! MMMMMMM

i hate to be a start arse, but isn't "unthawed" frozen?

now if you said defrosted, or thawed, or unfroze it would make more sence, so i had to ask. i've heard that said many times, and can't help but respond, unthawed means frozen.
