One for the new Lindy Ice line

I was fishing walleye and perch last Sunday and had been out all morning and was starting to pack up around noon, and still had my line with a plain red hook and a fathead minnow with no leader 5# Lindy Ice line. All at once I noticed my rod starting to go down so I set the hook and the drag started singing. Worked it all the way up to the ice and saw the tail and away it went again, finally got the head through the hole and saw it was a northern. Got him up the hole and he was 28" and the Lindy Ice line had held with hardly a nick. So that new Lindy Ice line has some pretty good durability and strength, I know I will be lining a few of my rods with it from now on. That sure was a fun fight and unexpected.

I was lucky enough to make it to the ice show and picked up some 5# and 3#. Still haven't seen it in the stores yet, know they will have it in most stores next year. Cant remember the name of the booth but I bet it would be at some of the bigger outdoors shops this year.

Managed to get another one this morning on a jig with a tail hooked fathead on my 6# p-line rod but it was hooked on the outside of the mouth so not as much of a challenge for the line, it was 24".

That just tells you they don't grade it very well. Diameter is everything.

Must be good line. The son of a friend pulled a 41 lb Musky out of hole using 6 lb Trilene SL. It swam around under the ice for a long time while his dad found a gaff to borrow.

it is kind of sad that 5# line performing as 5# line should is noteworthy.
