SNOBEAR

Give Tom a call at Snobear UAG in West Fargo. He has a list of possible units for sale through the dealer network. I do know of one unit that is for sale at Lake of the Woods Marine north of Baudette. That machine is in nice condition and runs perfectly. If you still have trouble, shout back on here and I can help direct you to a couple people that may be of help....Jim

i heard thru one of the resort owners up on LOTW that they currently stopped making snobears and production has ceased.... apparently there is a person looking to buy and take over the company... i have also heard it is kind of hard to find used snobears because of this... if they stop getting made, the only ones that are out there now are going to become much more valuable IMHO... there is absolutely nothing like a day of fishing in the snowbear up on lotw (like last week):

Rocki, the one I am referring to at LOW Marine was actually a relative of mine's machine. He updated to a newer model and traded that one in. It has been maintained properly every season and well taken care of. It is a one owner machine and is serviced and ready to go. You can contact Al at LOW marine for the price on that one but I wouldn't be scared of that machine for one second. Our family up here has 5 Snobears in our fleet and I myself am on My second machine so we know our way around the units pretty well front to back. That machine has the updated rear suspension components and had a new transmission installed last season, the engine runs nice and the inside and outside are clean. That particular machine has not been trailered or towed on any roads other than inside the LOW area. Let me know if your looking for any more specific info and I'll be glad to help. That should work out perfect rocki as I will be up in the Angle all week this week. Heading up there tomorrow around noon. I will be on Little Oak from tomorrow through new years. So just give me a call and I will be more than happy to hook up with you and take you for a ride and get you up to speed with all your questions! We'll have 4 different rigs for you to take a look at from a stock snobear to a snofox and a couple of new ones as well. Look forward to hearing from you. We normally stop in and spend some time at Sportsmans Oak island and the other resorts in the area so give me a call and we can meet up!

I know a guy in Ontario who has Snobears available. He's 300 miles NE of Sault St Marie Michigan. (one might be 50 N of Toronto)

If you're willing to go that far and/or it gets to the point where it looks like you have to go that far to get one; let me know, I'll shoot ya his info.

    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
