Nils adapter

Here is the piece I had made for the 8" Nils to mate to my strikemaster powerhead. Can't wait to use it! Going to be different having the powerhead so high with this longer Nils auger on it but is exactly what I want for my runs to Mille Lacs with there thick ice later in the year. The part fits nice and he made the allen bolt heads go through the adapter and thread to the other side. The head of the bolt rests agains the auger inside the pipe just as the strikemaster is designed. He ran the bolts through from each direction and there is no movement a perfect match! A little paint and its done.

Nice, I wonder how it will work. Does the Strikemaster power head weigh much more the the nils power head. Are the Rpm's similar of the two power heads.

Esox magnum would know for sure as he has owned both.

Of course the SM will be heavier it;s a bigger motor, I think the RPM's are also a little slower on the SM. Nils/Tanaka are RPM dependant,where a SM relys more on tourqe

Looks like it should do the job just fine. I think it should be a very good cutting machine because it was a hand auger before it received a motor

Was it hard for you guys to get used to the height of the nils vs the other brands? Or does it cut so fast you don't notice.

It'll work just fine.

I mounted a Nils on a SM Mag III a couple years ago,

Rotation isn't as fast as a Tanaka powerhead and transmission so it won't be as fast.

Just out of curiosity, why make the adapter for a Strikemaster power head??? Did you just own the hand auger and wanted to use the Nils shaft? I'm just curious as to why you made the adapter.... not trying to start another Strikemaster vs. Nils debate. Thanks

I bought the Nils and thought what the heck. Man is it an effortless fast cut. I think it's faster then my 6" lazer I have for it.
