VX-1 vs. VX-1

I have a 3 year old Marcum VX-1 that I really like and I'm planning to buy a second one for when I bring someone along fishing with me. A local store has one in a grey case and one in a red case and the price is 20 dollars different. They are both called VX-1 pro 3 color sonar ice systems and I was wondering if there is a difference between them that anyone knows about. Thanks.

One is a hold over from last season (grey) other is a new 2010 (red) I would spend the extra 20 on the red one due to the battery is fresher and not been sitting on a shelf not being maintained for at least a year.

I'd do the opposite and buy the old one and get another battery with that $20.

I would buy the cheaper one, then buy an extended warranty/service policy on it with the $20.

Id buy the older one and then buy a case of beer with the $20

I'd let the other person use your older VX-1 and then upgrade your system to the LX-3 tc.
