So this was last year, but I was not a member of this site then. Was pretty excited to see this hog come up through the hole of this suburban lake.

Wow tough room. Is this kind of post frowned upon here? I thought it was a pretty rare thing to catch a bass this big in the winter.

yeah for sure its a nice Bass and a rare find for sure. and i second the opinion that people are busy fishin this time of the year.

Thanks! It was the only significant fish I caught that day. I was picking up my minnow in my tipup to make sure he was not buried in the weeds, and as I was lifting the minnow the fish hit. I never gave any slack, but just pulled it right up!

Those are always a fun surprise...except when you've been nailing crappie after crappie and you think you've got a massive crappie on and it turns out to be a 14 inch bass.

Still a lot of fun! I've been catching a lot of them this year for some reason. I usually catch 1 or 2 an entire season, this season so far I've caught 4.

I had three days where i pulled fish like that out of two different lakes last year. They sure can be a lot of fun! Jigging spoon and minnow head has worked best for me with bass in the winter....though never target them, and a tip up with shiner also slammed them.

I remember the first one that I ice'd over 20" and that was in 6' of water. I dropped my spoon down, and when i lifted up my rod, she bent staight down!
