Gotta have a shotgun for night time. Any good rifle is good in smaller calibers. If hunting coyotes don't go to small such as 17 caliber. 222 223, 22-250, 243 work fine for yotes. I started with a 243 so I could use it for deer also. Just experiment with different grain bullets to get least fur damage. Ballistic tips seen to blow out fur to me so I stay with hollow point, FMJ or just lead tip.

With the price of ammo these days its hard to beat the .223 rifle. I have had several calibers in the varmint range from .17 Rem to 25-06. I like the 22-250 and the .204 Ruger, and once owned a 220 swift (super deadly but really expensive to shoot.), but if I was to only own one all-around caliber it would be the .223
