personally when the wind is bad, I find a stand/spot I have the most confidence in and I sit all day. I get frustrated when I try multiple spots and strike out. On the land I hunt 25 percent of the land have high activity. I would rather pick one of these areas and hunt it 99 percent of the time then to hunt 99 percent of my land 1 percent of the time. There are folks on here who will have better ideas but I hunt the way I do because it doesn't stress me out as much.

Well I hunt in the NW part of ND. The land I hunt usually is the river bottom surroaded by farmland that has been recently harvested. The wind helps me in this case because the deer isn't as spoke from all the nose the wind makes. I can get to my spot to post alot easier without worrying too much on spoking them. I've found the mornings being the best time to hunt. There usually coming back from feeding during the night.

I think there are several factors at play here besides the wind. The weather has been warmer then normal for this time of year and the deer are moving more during the dar when it is cooler. I think wind up to 15 mph the deer don't alter the times when they feed and bed but when you get those 20-30 mph gusts and such I think they tend to hunker down for a bit or move to bed and feed in more sheltered areas. This time of year though, you just never know when deer may come cruising by with the rut on.

With a strong wind I have noticed that the deer will move more with the wind. Find a secluded field corner out of the wind and the deer will be there. The winds make them a bit more jumpy but they still move. They still have to eat...
