MidCoast
Lindy Flyers. When a fish approaches the Flyer. Do you keep jigging it up and down lightly in a shaking motion or do you just hold the Flyer still and hope the fish attacks the lure? Northlander
I usually make them chase it up and keep "pounding" the rod tip. Of course it depends on the fishes mood on the graph. You will need to experiment daily with different ways but I always make them think my bait is trying to get away and never toatally stop it even if im just tapping the rod with my finger. Borch
Like Northlander said it will depend on the mood of the fish and I often use the same technique he refers to. Although there are time the sudden pause will trigger the strike and when fishing cats a very long pause is often required.
whistletrekker
I love these too! Pulled a nice 26" eye and 40" sturgeon on the 1/8 Silver shiner color the other night! on 4lb line! Whole fathead on the hook...
Northlander
whistletrekker try just a tail on them. Some days thats the ticket. everyone uses heads and full minnow but I have found on the St. Louis Bay that a flyer tipped with just a tail will at times out fish ones tipped with a head or full minnow.By the way welcome and make sure to keep a eye on the BWCA/Duluth forum. DTro
With a little tweaking, they are a KILLER Tulibee lure as well!
Northlander
I have been using a mono dropper on 1 lately and its been working good on finicky walleyes. DTRO I have had too many chains fail me over the years so now I use mono.
Stick in Mud
I was just looking through some old posts and came upon this thread. When using this with a dropper--either of chain or mono--do you use it on a deadstick, or do you jig it the way you would a spoon with a treble? Northlander
You can do both. Usually if Im using a dropper Im not jigging as agressively as when I just have a treble. More of a lift drop set, lift drop set.
