Bow Only Hunting Areas

Hey guys - I'm a rookie bowhunter looking for info on archery only areas in MN, but can't find squat on the DNR site. Either it's not there, or I am just blind.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find bow only areas to hunt? Thanks.

Just read an article in a magazine talking about areas like that in the metro area. Not sure where you live, but it may be worth checking out.

There are some metro and other special zones like Camp Ripley that are a lottery to get access to, the hunting regs have some of them listed.

There are also some state refuge areas, but the one I have hunted is all private land, just special regs for that area. Why it was set like this I don't know.

Check with your Municipality. Much of that is under local control. And yes, the MN reg book lists special refuge and park hunts that are under state control.

I know there are areas in some state forests that are bow only for big game. They allow small game hunting for part of the season, then it's closed and bow only the rest of the season.

Twins57 - do you remember what magazine that was? I am in the NW metro and would love to find some places close to home to hunt.
