NEED SOME HELP - wife just said..."where ya wanna go?"

Title says it all - I thought my pike and musky fishing were pretty much done for the year being I live in Utah and only have one good pike lake in the state. But it is my birthday this weekend and my wife asked me this morning - "You wanna go chase big Pike or Musky this weekend? I am serious...if you wanna go let me know where by tuesday night and we will go!"

So with that said I need some help from you as I usually only fish up north in late spring and summer...but I want to go catch some BIG Fish this friday and saturday.

***If you could go fishing anywhere in the western 2/3 of the US for 2 days with a great chance at a BIG fish and planning to catch at least a couple fish where would you go? For that matter...if you have a guide to recommend that is appreciated too.

go to lake of the woods....if by some bizarre chance you dont get into any toothy critters during the day...you could hit the river at night for the huge sturgeon, and you can always reward the mrs. with a fresh walleye dinner.

thinking a little more.....vermillion should get you fish as well...plus "downtown" ely would be more entertaining to the mrs. than baudette....either way should be a good trip....the water temps are still pretty high for this time of year and you should get into the fish.

Vermilion has been simply terrible for awhile now. Mil Lacs is also not doing that good. Lake of the Woods, NW Angle, has been slow. You could try either Vermilion or Mil Lacs and have a chance, although I think right now a slim one, of catching a big fish. Lake of the woods, NW Angle, you would probably see some action from smaller fish and still have a shot at a large one.

Water temps are 5-10 degrees above where they normally are for this time of the year plus there is alot of forage out there so even with the full moon I think it's going to be slow.

Vermilion and M Lac have been very tough the past few years if you're not plugged in. You'd be better in the Leech/Cass/Bemidji or Alexandria area IMOP.

What about Red? Some nice pike in there and if the fishing is slow they can always run to LOW.

Are you aware of Pineview reservoir? It's got tigers. For a trip this time of year I like lake of the woods.
