Found this on a recent hunting trip to the northern edge of the Black Hills. Both sides had obviously been worked by human hands, probably a long time ago. It's much too big to be an arrow head, spear maybe? Can you imagine trying to push that thing through buffalo hide/ribs?

Any other ideas on what this may have been used for?

I have been told it was a skinning/fleshing tool..

I thought of that right away, but the fleshing tools I've seen are only sharp on one side, leaving the other side smooth for holding onto. But I'm not sure, that's why I posted.

I saw a flint-knapping demo and the dude said sometimes they would rough out a piece and carry it around until they needed something.Then they would finish it to the smaller piece. That way your not carrying around a huge raw chunk. Otherwise fleshing tool popped into my head also?
