Fall larch color, aspens/birch/canoeist and a spruce grouse

I was out with a client from Long Island, N.Y., today, and we found lots of tamaracks near peak color. Not to mention 9 ruffed grouse and 3 spruce grouse. Well, a lot more, too, but I was the assistant today, not the primary shooter, so this is all ya get.

I love your female Spruce Grouse photo.. I wonder where all the males are? Keep an eye out for Saw Whet Owls.. from what I hear they had a bumper crop of young and should be in good numbers.

Thanks, Mike. We'll keep our ears/eyes open for Saw-Whets. We had such an early spring, and not a lot of rain, that it seemed to have produced good numbers of many species.
