DTro
I actually was hook, line, and sinker on the original "musky report". If that's true, than the one person was worth it Funny that the same guys that have been around 50+ inch muskies were complaining abour sore arms and saying things like "dude, I'm shaking". A 70+ pound freshwater fish is an amazing thing to witness in person!

cjac
Definitely a fun trip, what a blast! These fish have amazing power and stamina, if our faces look a little funny it's because the arms are burning after fighting a fish for 10+ minutes. Try doing arm curls for a while then picking up a 70+lb wiggling mass of muscle. The big one kicked my arse big time on the fight and in the boat, let's just say the release was on her terms, not mine! After the 61" and two more 50+ inch fish after that all in about a 1/2 hour span I was hurtin' but lovin' it! Granted they are a totally different beast than an Esox with a different build, but the 28" girth does put some muskie girths into perspective. The 28" fish filled my entire arm curl. For the record, RK did the girth measure, so I think that makes it credible! Box: I think the titanium inserts in my back may have helped more than anything else, I just hope my surgeon doesn't find out about the sturgeon! LOL I was using a $70 Shimano Clarus steelhead rod, 7'9" MH action paired with a Cardiff 300, nothing fancy in the least bit. Soft tip to feel the bite and enough backbone to make it a blast. Would be veeeeeery interesting to match that up against a 70" class fish though, but I'm sure willing to try! Here's a 55" from Sunday AM, take a look over my shoulders and you'll see the fishing pressure we had to deal with. BTW, this fish kicked my arse too! I thought it was headed upstream for I Falls for a while. Not sure who has the better smile.... Thanks for a fun trip boys, can you take this Friday off and go again? It's the least you can do for all the slime thats left on my boat floor that I'm dealing with.... Chris

Silver Scale
Dawn dish soap in hot water will take all that sturgeon and crawler slime out. Followed by a good hard rinse. Muskie nets work good for these critters and if your anchored with the bow upstream a cradle works good too. Anchored sideways stick with the net.. Welcome to the dark side boys, once you fight a few stugeon you tend to lose some of the muskie fever....
