pureinsanity
I am building my father a fishing rod that is going to be hunting based. hes a big pheasant hunter and I wanted to try putting some feathers into the rod. I know the season is right around the corner and I can go get some myself but I was just curious if anyone had a couple short tail feathers and a bunch of chest feathers they would be willing to mail me or I could pick up. here is a picture of what ive came up with so far. Gonna do the eye wraps silver and red like a shot gun shell!
2thepointsetters
When do you need them? I am going to No.Dak. for the pheasant opener which is a week before the MN season. I could mail you some when I get back on the 13th.

pureinsanity
2thepointsetters, thanks for the offer but my friend got some today on the road Ryan what city are you in? Depending on the flood and when I can get the feathers from my friend since he is across the river I might take you up on that offer. pureinsanity
I insist on a pic when you are done, sounds interesting. Thanks Gonna look something like this. But probably more feathers depending if I can come up with some kinda design with them. Also I am thinking more of the redish-maroon feather on the chest of the rooster
pureinsanity
Here is an update, I started working more on this rod. I am getting some feathers this week. All the rod wraps are going to look like shot gun shells. Here is the first one I did where the hook keeper and the feathers are going to go. pureinsanity
Thank you to all those who stepped up to get me some feathers! I finally got the rod complete! I do not have good quality pictures but here is one from the cell phone that shows the feathers. All the wraps are made to resemble a shotgun shell. sticknstring
Beautiful looking rod - you're a true artist. Your father will cherish it. How much for a deer one?
pureinsanity
Beautiful looking rod - you're a true artist. Your father will cherish it. How much for a deer one? I was actually thinking about making an ice rod and using an antler as a handle. Got some other priorities right now before I start making more rods! sticknstring
That would rank high on my Christmas list! If you start production, I could donate a few sheds to get you going.
pureinsanity
Maybe down the road I can do this! I think a small fork horn would work great! Antler for the handle and than the fork horns could be a good handle for jigging!
