Water in bottom of fridge

Northlander

Question

My fridge is getting water in the bottom of it lately. About 1/2" every 3 or 4 days. I cant seem to find anything wrong. I cleaned it all up and vacumed everything out. I thought maybe a clogged vent tube but I cant get at it.

Any ideas?

Ya its frost free.

Frank I had all the drawers out thinking that was the issue but saw nothing. I took the back off as well as bottom and checked everything I could and it looked ok. I vacumed everything out reel good so we will see what happens now.

Compressor dont come on that often and I cant hear it come on in the other room so Im not really sure how often. Could it be something like a compressor or something going out?

Fridge is still plenty cold and freezer works awesome still. confused

my only suggestion would be a repairman:)

Oh..and if theres any danger of it failing, I'd be happy to take the contents of your freezer off your hands:) Hate to see all those...err..I mean...your 1 daily limit of walleyes go to waste:)

Traveler your welcome to all fish I have. No need for a cooler maybe just a zip lock. I dont usually keep many fish and when I do I freeze very few. I do think I have a few dozen smelt I can toss in that Zip Lock for ya though. wink

More than likely it is the drain in the back of your freezer.

Pull everything out and defrost the coils.

Find the drain under the coils.

Fill up a squirt bottle with warm water (the bottle should have a nozzle or tube that fits over the drain hole) then squirt the warm water down the drain hole in your freezer and that will remove the clog. (The clog is usually iced up crumbs or a small piece of something that slows the drain then ice starts to form in the tube to fully block it off)

That would be my first step. Or call the repairman and pay to have him do it.

Good advice and that is what you should do next.

yes you would need to take the back panel off to gain access. If you look on the very bottom of the fridge (outside of fridge) you shoould be able to see the drain pan. probly get best view from the back. if its bone dry most likely a drain prob. might be able to blow it out from there if its just a clog...if its frozen you will have to thaw out from the inside. or unload it..shut it off & let it thaw for awhile
