Konerko - next year

Is there any way that we'd be able to acquire Konerko next year?

I'd certainly love to see it happen, and any way to keep him out of Chicago would be fantastic to reducing our competition next year. One could almost call it "defensive acquisitioning".. lol

Of course after his performance this year, he isn't going to come cheap to whoever he signs with.

I would say the chance is less that 1% with the only way it would be remotely possible is if Justin Morneau never plays again.

I'm not so sure Morny will ever play again, at least at a high level. But would be a good spot for Joe to play later on.

I'm just speculating here on Thome being done after this season. He can't run for extra bases, as shown with his near-homerun tonight. While that doesn't matter as much for him as it might for other DHers, it is a sign of his health.

I think he really just wants one more serious run at a world series ring and to go out on a high note.

If Thome doesn't come back, it'd be nice to be able to sign some more heavy muscle.

They're gonna need a permanent first baseman but I dont know if the twins would spend the money on him (konerko). I think this year they almost had to spend some coin with the new stadium and all the hoopla that came with it. I'm just curious what will happen with morneau, they really dont even talk too much about the whole situation anymore.
