Help!! Lawn Damage!!

I woke up this morning, and to my surprise a big portion of my lawn was tore up by something. LOTS AND LOTS of holes in my lawn. Something was digging for something. Whatever it is tore up a 50' x 50' section of my lawn. I posted some pics, I hope they help. Please let me know what it is and how to kill it. I have had some skunks in the yard lately, not sure if they would dig my lawn up like this. Please help.

All the damage happened over night, my springer was in the house!

I have seen it where skunks will almost roll the sod up to get at the grubs in the ground. Coons will also do this.

From your pics I cannot tell exactly what the sod looks like.

harvey, the sod almost looks like a divet from a golfer. Some thing was looking for grubs, I was leaning towards a skunk, but it could be a raccoon. Either way its a good thing I am a trapper, I should be able to catch whatever it is

Thanks guys, I am thinking the same thing. After this rain I will have a dozen or so traps out. I cant believe the damage he did to my good lawn. GRRRRRR!

Looks like skunk - but possums will do the same darn thing.
