Rug or 3/4 body mount

Recommended Posts

I like shoulder mounts over rugs myself, rugs run 100 or more a foot, I plan on doing one or two rugs, one with a very large bear or two with a color phase bear. Space is a big issue for me, a 3/4 mount will also take a lot of space on a wall coming out of it, shoulder mounts are kinda just right IMO. Go to a taxidermist an view his show room an decide what would look right for you in your home.

I myself think smaller bears make for better rugs. When you hang them they don't take up the entire wall. Not saying you have a small bear but I would do a rug with that one over a 3/4 body mount. Just my opinion and you can do whatever you want. Congrats on the bear!!!!

Im planning on mounting my boar from this year and doing a euro skull with the sow from this year also, only going this route because this is the first time I got a bear, second season hunting. I dont have enough room for a rug and I dont want to put the rug on the floor because of my two dogs so a mount is the way to go for me, I was thinking about a half mount with the two front paws coming out

Did two in and one out. First bear at 630 second 15 min later. Had a big one on cam a week before but couldnt tell if that was him. Only had one more day to hunt did not want to risk an empty tag. What do you think would this one dress out at more than 195. Cant tell if this is the one i shot or not. MDGC0060.jpg
