free standing tri pod stand and liquid food?

Recommended Posts

Two questions for everyone?

One: Do any of you like using the tri-pod stand? I have a spot in some pines that are only about eight feet high, not high enough for a climber yet, so I would like to put up a tri pod stand. Just wondering if anyone has some pros and cons to them.

Two: IS the deer cane and other liquid baits illegal in MN? Can you pour them onto stumps etc and use them? Do they work?

Thanks for the responses!

We have a tripod stand at work that works great for areas of thick scrub brush/wetland areas or anywhere you can't get a treestand up. The stand feels somewhat "shaky" as you're climbing up, but once at the top its very sturdy. The brand we have is from that big place in Rogers and Owatonna.

The only negative I can see is that the platform isn't very large. Since the fixed seat is in he middle of the platform, you can spin but standing is difficult. I would make sure you get one large enough to fit your needs. maybe ne which the seat isn't fixed in the middle.

I was just looking yesterday at the local Menards, they have big tripod stand setup out front. It seemed pretty heavy duty and sturdy, priced at about $200, seems like it would be a good option in the right spot. I kind of wonder though about the rail around the seat, would be nice for gun hunting but for bow hunting it might get in the way.
