South shore of Lake Superior and the UP of Michigan

Out last week for a trip to the southern shore of Lake Superior. Having spent years traveling the North Shore it was time to see the "other" side of the lake. Beautiful area with some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere! I will post another thread with just a few of the many waterfalls along the south shore.

#1 Sunset around Silver City, MI

#2 Stars with a small amount of light painting on the foreground rocks.

#3 Porcupine Mountains near Silver City, MI

#4 Along the beaches between Marquette and Munising, MI

#5 Lost in the Clouds lake in the Porcupine Mountains

#6 Miners Castle Rock in Pictured Rocks National Seashore

#7 The last four are all on the Pictured Rocks Seashore, about a 20 miles stretch along Lake Superior.

I havent spent much time along the South Shore, but it looks beautiful and your photos do it justice. Lake of the Clouds sure looks different in the summer, doesnt it?

Wow, OT it does look different! I would love to take a trip there in the fall. You would need a handful of memory cards to shoot everything you wanted that time of year!

Very cool! Love the color in the steep shorelines! My in-laws were from Ironwood so we spend some time in that area every summer. Nice set, Dan, but I have to say 1 and 6 are my faves!

I've spent a couple of weeks in the Lake of the Clouds area in the fall. Incredible Color. Wish I had had a camera along, but at the time I was going through my "water Phase" and wasn't thinking about photography.
