Cheers
I was wondering about wearing hearing protection whilst duck and goose hunting but I feel it is important to be able to hear the birds so I was wondering about the muffs that only deaden loud noise. Do they work ? Do they get in the way ? Are they worth the investment ? If so what brands are best ?Thanks for your advise
goblueM
you could go on the cheap and just use earplugs... put em in after you spot some birds and are working them... or just wear one on the side you shoot onask yourself if being hard of hearing for the rest of your life is worth it just to hear some birds and shoot a coupla more! Gordie
WHAT couldnt resist I've lost a bit off hearing from work and gun blasts over the years its not a good thing at all. Find something that is comfortable and that will have a decible rating for what you are doing.
SmilinBob
I had some of the injected fit plugs made a couple years ago, you can carry on a conversation and still hear as well as hear birds and they work very well for shooting. If its too quiet talking you just give them a bit of a twist out, when the birds come, push them back in tight. I can wear them for hours and be comfortable. no bait nate
i have Walker's Game Ear Power Muffs. these were a great investment i made a few years ago. i use them all the time for shooting clays and target/patterning, and sighting in weapons. They amplify the sound great and knock down the muzzle blasts very well. I wear them for turkey and deer hunting, and will be using them a lot more this year for waterfowl hunting. definitely one of the best investments i have made in outdoor gear. I know to many people who can't hear the sound of wings anymore because of no protection in their early years. I think they are around 100 bucks now which is a sweet deal for product you get.
