Flipping and Pitching Rod Size

I have been thinking about buying a new flipping and pitching rod and reel setup at the end of this week. I have been doing research on them both and it seems (even though it's different for each angler) that the most common size for a flipping rod is around 7 1/2 feet and a pitching rod is a little shorter around 6'1/2 feet.

I was just wondering what you all use and if you had any helpful information on what to look for when buying a new rod and reel set? or how much I should be looking to spend on a typicall baitcast rod/reel combo? I know everyone is different but it's always nice to have some opinion.

My flippin/pitching setup is a 7' GLoomis Heavy, fast action with a Curado reel. I really don't see the need for a shorter rod for flipping unless you are in a walleye boat with tall gunnels.

I dont flip, but do quite a bit of pitching and have 3 rods I use....a 6'7 MH Zillion, a GLX 803 and a Cumara 6'8 MH. I previously used 7' rods and now that I downsized its much much easier to pitch and I'm more accurate as well.

What reel you get will depend on what baits you pitch/flip. If you pitch light baits, 1/4 and under, then you'll want to spend a little more and get a quality, shallow spool reel that is able to throw those baits. If you only pitch 1/4+ baits then a Curado E7 is a great choice.
