cherokee
I get down right after legal shooting light ends or if within legal time when it is too dark to see my pins. I haven't had the opportunity to be stuck in stand with a bear at the station. LOL
charliepete
I sit until the very end of legal shooting, case the bow and come down. I've got stuck in the tree a few times. Once with a sow and cubs at the bait. I tried to scare them off and the cub went up a tree across from me. To make things worse my flashlight ran out of batteries. I was pretty spooked walking out in the inky black knowing that a sow and cubs were right near me.

bogwalker
I stay until I have to use a flashlight ( a small dim one) to walk out. Bear do not fear people in the dark. Even if you have bear on your bait you can usually walk out carefully and quietly without disturbing them too much.
JeffB
I stay till its to dark to shoot. Once on the way out after seeing nothing and getting mauled by mosquitos for a few hour I was walking out on the weeler trail I almost walked into a bear. We came about 2 feet from walking into each other. Jeeze you would think one of us would watch where we were going. We both froze for a couple seconds before he bolted off to my left. lichen fox
I also sit until it's too dark to shoot...I've left bait sites numerous times with bears on the bait that I didn't want to take...One time we had decided to hunt a certain bait and had just finished re-baiting it and were in the process of setting up the stand. I was screwing in steps and my partner was on the ground. He wispered to me..."hey Bob"...I replied, "yeah?"...he said "the bear is here"....I looked and there was a beautiful cinnamon about 3 steps from the base of the tree looking at us! Steve said, "what should we do?" I said, "we may as well finish setting up the stand." and we did, the bear looked at us, looked down and proceeded to the bait and hit it as I finished setting up the stands. We snuck out and when we got to the road a C-O was waiting by our truck. He proceed to start a conversation with us and we told him "SHHHHHHUSH", told him the story, and we started getting ready to head in and hunt that bear!! Well, this was about 3 in the afternoon and needless to say, the bear was gone from the bait when we got back...we sat there and had a small black come in about 4 pm or so but the cinamon didn't show up that evening before dark, but I did harvest him about 4 days later!!
