Pulled the trigger on two kayaks today! Shopped around all week and found what we wanted. Had to drive to Scranton but saved a little over $100, plus they took 20% off the paddles.

Here they are strapped to the focus with my Super Delux McGuyver rig! Yep that is two pieces of metal like they use for stop signs, 4 yoga mats, two ratchet straps, and a couple of end tiedowns... whistle 70mph down the highway and rock solid! cool

Maiden voyage on the Susky about 10 min from home...

Super stable! I could swing my legs back and forth without feeling tipsy. I had to lean a long way till it felt like she might go over...

Have a little rigging to do. Mine came with two recessed rod holders and two scotty holders(one mounted). Plenty of room for beverages, food, and gear...

Looking forward to the many places Beth, Tank, Friends, and I can use these!

Nice toys you have there DC you should be able to take most anywhere they would work nice on the smaller bodys of water up here wink. The only problem is the people up here in the motar boats don't have much respect for the kayaks or other motar boats its crazy.

They actually paddle real easy. Not too much work at all. Alot of our useage will be on small rivers where you can let the current do most of the work smile

I'll have to fab something for the front of the focus. Lucky that piece is made of that real cheap but flexible plastic. Plus it not my only option for hauling these around...

Thunder - last weekend we were on a fairly busy lake with some big boats and waterskiers - I was pleasantly surprised how well they deal with waves. Big storms just rolled through here but hopelully we can get out this evening and do some exploring...

DC, you can take them anywhere you want. Stable and fun. I have a pirogue from Louisiana hanging in the garage and use to have a ball in Nebraska on the small lakes. Have thought about using it for the Fall walleye when the fish stay out past casting range. You'll need to get some of those temp lights for night.

Calli - Thats how we ended up with them. We were at a cookout with about 15 people and 8 kayaks. Didnt want to wait for our turn or feel like we were hogging them, lol. Do some shopping around, there are deals to be had. The one mom n pops place we went didnt have good prices but do blow out demos at the end of the season. Richards sporting good had the best prices of box stores and I got them to take alot off mine - it was a 2 year old model with a cracked but fine handle. Neither of which they knew till I started talking to a manager. whistle

Frank - I thought the same thing about those fall eyes. cool And as much as I dislike trolling I think it would be fun to cover some ground with two rods out looking for working fish...

Jeffery - I have alot of goof jurry rigs to my name, lol. The manager where I bought them didnt believe I was putting two kayaks on a focus. He came out before we left and was blown away with my rig. A trolling motor? No problem, only issure would be the weight of the battery...

I played around with them a bit today. Mine is a sit-on top and has drain holes for oversplash or water dripping off your paddle. Problem with them is when you load up heavy the water comes up through and floods your leg area. Them make plugs for em you can buy, no problem as they are not expensive. My brain got to working and I made my own. A block of cedar spun up on the lathe, some rubber tape, and a piece of cord. Think i'll glue a piece of foam on top for a lure keeper(no trebles eek)

Also rigged up a storage system for them...

Went for a little paddle after dinner today. With the rain we got the local creek was up enough to float/paddle without hitting bottom too much. Did not bring a rod though as it was quite murky. I grew up blocks from this creek and caught alot of smallies and rockbass here...

We covered a mile or two and Tank picked us up downstream...

FYI - Waterproof means water resistant! Both cells punched thier death tickets!

Also added some more mods. I put an anchor trolly system on mine. You drop anchor then tie the rope to the O-ring, then deploy the ring to the stern. Now the bost will safely hold in wind or current without being a safety hazard. They run about 30+ bucks, I made a trip to H depot and only have 11 bucks into it, plus it is easily removed whistle

Also added a small gear basket mounted to the drain plug. One dollar at, yep the dollar store...

Harv, im quite happy with em. Im really impressed with how stable and comfortable they are. You'd almost have to TRY and tip them...

Dont know if you noticed, but I did a "how to" diamond wrap in the rod-building forum. I remember you asking about one a while back...

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
