I probably only use about 20% of my fish finder/GPS's cababilities so I could probably do without that as well. I use it for depth, temp and maybe bottom composition on a good day. I couldn't tell a marked fish from dirt on the screen.

Well, I almost proved you could win an event without a trolling motor (for 5 of 8 hours) last year until Timmy weighed a load and screwed that up. I don't really care to do that again.

I wouldn't have a problem giving up my outboard for a few trips or forever if everyone else gave their's up as well.

I would have to say #3. I got a new-to-me boat last year that had a 15 year old no frills fish finder, a 40 hp and a broken trolling motor. It was extremely hard to do well fishing in any winds over 5 mph. Over the winter I purchased a new trolling motor and a fish finder/gps. Fishing is now 100 times more enjoyable. I can pinpoint promising looking locations and hold my boat there. My boat will do around 30 mph which will get me from one end of the lake to the other in under 15 minutes on the larger lakes I fish.
