Corey Bohn
I do have an ail cooker, but am looking for other suggestions for preparing and cooking a wild turkey. Any roasting ideas or marinades/ basting would be appreciated. Are any of you injecting marinades for roasting and/or oil cooking?Thinking about wrapping it in bacon and/or roasting with a beer, butter, onion basting. I would think injecting some type of marinade would help keep it from drying out while roasting in a cooking bag. This is my first time preparing a wild turkey, so trying my best from it becoming a disappointment. Suggestions either way would be appreciated. I tried searching for this but found nothing on the first 5 pages.thanks.
Chapo
I've had a locker smoke one in the past which was okay. I deep fried my second one and it was fabulous. Couldn't tell the difference between wild turkey and turkey bought in the store.
picksbigwagon
The last turkey I got I took one of the turkey breasts and butterfly'd it open so it was even thickness. I then put some wild rice stuffing on it and rolled it up like a stuffed pork loin. I then used thick cut unsmoked bacon, and put it on my smoker for about 2-3 hours and then finished it on the grill (on low) for about an hour.....My wife actually liked it, I loved it but for her to eat game that "used to have feathers" is a huge step. I am pretty sure the next one I get I will cook both breasts this way but might just finish it in the oven instead of on the grill.....Now I just need to remember to apply next year and hope I get lucky

Flip
Cut the meat into chunks and bread them just like chicken strips. Deep fry them like you would fish. I work with a guy who has a cookout every spring turkey season. He makes deep fried turkey, crappie and morel mushrooms. It is not real healthy but it sure tastes good.
