Boat Plug

I need a little help.

I took my plug out yesterday to let the boat drain. It was a little hard getting it out but I didn't think anything of it since it had been sitting all winter. It's an old style that you screw in. Now, I go to put it back in and it only goes about a half turn and I can just pull it right out. I tried the old stand by of spraying a little WD-40 and cleaned everything but I still get the same result.

Do I need to get it re threaded? Are there other options?

It's from an old Crestliner 14' if that helps.

You can get a cammed plug instead of the screw in type.

+2 use a new style plug

Apply friction to Aluminum and it will smear on itself. I'm sure you don't have a tap but try a steel plug to clean threads. Then use a brass plug in the boat.

Yea you could use a rubber compression plug if the above doesn't work.
