Code-Man
Since my boss was on vacation all of last week and it's finally getting nice to get into the fields he wants me to work during my 5 day turkey season. Monday was supposed to be nice and I was excited first day of season...ya now I'll be in a tractor. Thursday though there is a 60% chance of rain and I'm wondering if turkeys really move around that much when there is a chance of rain...Am I going to be wasting my time in the blind if it is rain? kevfish1
It has been my experience that turkeys like to be out in a light rain. I see way more in a light rain and seem to stay out in open longer 4 more days and it is off to Nebraska for some giant merrimans
Borch
Not a waste of time at all. I've killed a lot of turkeys in the rain. They tend to spend more time in the open areas like pastures and fields. Turkeys also seem to like freshly work ground as it exposes all sorts of new food sources. So I'd set up in or near those freshly worked fields on the field itself or a field roads or pasture nearby.Good Luck!
lindy rig
When it rains, the turkeys can hear better out in the open. In the forest, the rain muffles noises and they don't like that as much.
