Recurve Bow Question?

GSP4EVER

Recommended Posts

A buddy of mine has bought a recurve bow. He is wanting to hunt with it. He is having trouble finding out if there is any restrictions on broadheads. More specificaly 3 blades or can he use 2 blade broadheads? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

• Arrowheads used for taking big game must be sharp, have a minimum

of two metal cutting edges, be of barbless broadhead design,

and have a diameter of at least 7/8" inch.

• “Expandable” broadheads may be used to take big game if they meet

the requirements above and: 1) are at least 7/8 inch in width and no

more than 2 inches in width at or after impact; and 2) are of a barbless

design and function in a barbless manner.

I have used both 2 and 3 blade heads from my recurves. I have used bows from 45 - 55 lbs and have found that my 45 and 50lb bows shoot 2 blade heads better and when sharp will shoot right threw the animal, the same can not be said with 3 blade heads from these two bows. They still harvested the animals, but the arrows stayed with the deer when they ran off.

My 55lb bow shoots 3 blade snuffers like darts and blows threw deer like any compound out there.

Recurves and longbows exclusively for 9 years, and will never look back.
