splash guards

Alright, tried a search as I know this has been discussed before but couldn't find what I was looking for so here it goes.

The "ol' man" is pulling the trigger on a new boat and was asking me about splash guards. I personally have wave wackers as that's all I knew when I bought my rig some years ago but have heard a lot about the white caps. Guards will be going on a 1750 crestliner fishhawk tiller with a vantage trolling motor. Any comments one way or the other for each manufacturer as to durability, looks or anything else that you feel applies.

Thanks

Boats are made to go forward so you don't really need splash guards.

Sorry, that probably doesn't help .......

I've had 2 boats with Wave Wackers and thought they were great. I moved a motor on one of those boats so I needed to change the Wave Wackers and customer service was great, they basically gave me the new parts I needed at no charge. I've never had White Caps on any boat I've owned but I've heard good things about them too.

Thanks all. Dad is making the run to both shops to see their design for a vantage and will make a decision from there. I will pass on the advice that I received here from you. I've already basically told him that I think people are happy with both.

Oh yeah, boats may be designed to go forward but walleye fishermen are designed to go backwards grin
