agree on it being very good move. if you add in the fact that mauer missed quite a few games at beginning of the year, one could make a reasonable argument that span was the team mvp last season based on his consistent plan through the entire season.

I was worried about span eventually being lost to another team and guess this should alleviate that worry. Only bad thing that comes out of this signing that I can see is that it reminds us of much the team goofed in overpaying punto for his value to the team when you compare his salary to span's.
