No-Roll sinker slider

So I got my sinker order the other day and was messing

around with a few ideas and came up with this,

sinker-slider1.jpg

A No-Roll sinker slider made from a 4" zip tie and a 22-18

Crimp-On Butt Connector. The sinker fit's snug on

the zip tie but can be pulled off and changed if needed.

(I'm hoping that it will pull of if I get it snagged)

The price was right sense I had the stuff laying around.

Wish me luck

GREAT idea! Semi rigid fuel line would work good too I would think.

Great idea. That is thinking outside of the box. Take it out in the yard and cast it a few times and reel it in across the lawn and that should give you a good idea if it will hold up. From the looks of it I would think it would work good. I like being able to change sinker size. I'm going to make a few of these and give them a try.

Great Idea!!

I think if you slightly dimple or crimp the end of the weight over the zip tied it would hold snug enough to prevent sliding off prematurely.

Years ago I used to fish with a rig for walleye that used that same pricipal.

It had a plastic slider with two little prongs that you attached various sized wieghts to.

You could change weights easily and if you snagged up the weight fell off and you were free.

I really liked it but I no longer can find them.

I later tried the same by making the slider out of a wire coat hanger and crimping rubber core sinkers onto it.

Worked ok but the wire would spin on the line and get tangled.

This idea looks to solve that problem.

I thought about coming off also, I'll have to try a split shot like Elwood suggested, maybe just melt the end or peg it with a tooth pick, I've also changed from the butt connector to a 1" piece of clear plastic tubing. The few times I tried it it worked well as long as I did not try to go for the long cast record.

dutch was thinking Yea it hurts when I do that but any who, if you take some shrink tubing on the tag end of the zip tie it would probally work also then you could cut a bunch of small pieces for shink tubeing and keep in youe tbox also.or cut the butt splices in half and crimp those on the tag end... endless possiblitys
