Folding bunk/bench

riverwader

Question

I am starting to get my final plans together for my wheel house and I would like to get folding bunks that I can fold up out of the way when not in use and that I can also open the bottom one down to have a bench when we want to eat or play cards. Does anyone know if this is something I can buy or am I going to have to get creative? I want the house to be wide open for a cargo hauler when I am not fishing so the folding bunks should work the best plus if I place them over the wheels I would have enough space for 2 cots at the rear of the house.

I was in Monticello RV the other month and they have some metal foldable to the wall type bunks they just started displaying. Talk to Bruce there. I don't know if its the same exact manufacturer but they looked like they'd work very nice.

They are real easy to make. Piece of plywood, 2 door hinges, frame the bottom of plywood with 2x2's,a2x2 on each wall for support, and a small eye hook to hold in up position. If you add a mattress you might have to cut plywood and add hinges thickness of mattress away from the wall.

Go check out a lodge fish house...there is a dealer up in Fridley.

They have the dinette set up which is your bench on each side, then the table comes down and makes a bed. Meanwhile the benches fold up against the wall for the cargo hauling.
