Wolf Track Classic III

Third annual Wolf Track Classic was run today - at least the first half. The six dog teams left Ely at 9:00 on their way to Tower. The 10 dog teams were to leave at 4:00 to go to Cook and back (130 miles round trip)but the recent nice weather had made the trail so bad that combined with the 50+ temps, that race was cancelled. A few shots from the morning:

nice!! we found a sled dog this year way out in the bush,, we managed to find his rightful owner, so it worked out for him. He sure was a gorgeous dog!

It was really a last minute decision. At 8:00 in the morning it was, go to Duluth shopping or take a walk in the woods and shoot some sled dogs.

Thought about calling on my way through Ely but figured you'd be chasing trout on such a nice day.

My photos look a little washed out on this computer. Looked fine on the 'puter at home, but might need a bit of adjusting.

Ken, my last trout gig was on Thursday, and I've been doing other stuff since then. More trout tomorrow. The mushing race trail crossed Central Blvd and W. Shagawa Rd about two blocks from my place, and as I was running errands all day I kept my camera in the vehicle hoping to get some shots of teams crossing dry roads on a narrow corridor of slush/snow shoveled over the concrete.

Thought that would have been some very interesting photography.

But alas, I find out from you in this thread that they canceled the rest of the darn thing! But it must have sucked for the dogs, being that warm out.

BTW, none of these look washed out on my LCD monitor.
