How to restore that new car shine?

Recommended Posts

I have a 03 corolla. over the last year or so it has lost most of its shine and is quite dull. How do I restore that new car shine. I will be driving this car for a few more years so getting it to look new again sure would be nice.

Even a swirl mark remover and some elbow grease will help a lot. I try to wax at least twice a year. My personal favorite wax is Meguiars NXT. Its a fully synthetic wax that leaves a really nice shine. Easy on and easy off. I'm also a big fan of the Meguiars gold. It's a little hard to get off but leaves a wetter look.

Get yourself a good quality clay bar system and wax and set aside about 4 hours. Park your clean Corolla in a nice shaded spot and give it the clay bar treatment to remove all kinds of things that you didn't even know were on the car. Then give it a good coat of wax, sit back with a cold beverage of your choice and admire the shine!

Should be good for an extra half mile per gallon too. LOL!

Clay bar is nice but make sure you really lube it up with the detailer while your using it. It can be a real mess if you don't use it right.

You can't go wrong with Meguires stuff for sure. I always have liked their stuff and it works really well.

Personally, I use wizards shine master. Its a little tougher to work with but it is the longest lasting stuff I have used, it leaves a nice finish like meguires gold class too. On my old truck I did one side of the hood with gold class and one side with wizards. I did that in the fall and in the spring the side with the wizards still beaded up water. I never washed it once during the winter either.

I clay bar my f150 every spring, then a coat of Scratch-X, then a coat of either regular carnuba or showcar polish, then finish it off with NXT. There is a product called "back to black" I've used for the fading plastic on the cowl, bumper and bed caps with great results you either want to do that first or tape it off, dont get a bunch on the paint.

After that it's a good wash, pre wax cleaner and NXT almost every month. Overkill I know but I like my truck shiny.
