2010 FLW Walleye League?

Recommended Posts

When will they be announcing the schedule for the minnesota league events? Or are they not doing the mn league anymore? It seems kinda late but the web site still only shows the 2009 schedule.

Thanks,

Joe

They cancelled the league this year. They split the tour into two divisions an East and West. They also lowered the entry fee but also lowered the payout.

Illinois River Spring Valley Boat Club Spring Valley, IL 4/29 - 5/1

Lake Winnebago TBD Oshkosh, WI 7/15 - 7/17

WESTERN-

Lake Oahe Spring Creek Resort Pierre, SD 6/24 - 6/26

Devils Lake TBD Devils Lake, ND 7/29 - 7/31

Championship Leech Lake TBD Walker, MN 9/22 - 9/25

You can sign up w/o a Pro, however you will not be guaranteed a spot in the field (which you would be if you signed up with a pro). It's just a simple numbers rule, if they get 1 of each at the same time, they don't have to search for 1 or the other to keep the numbers even.

Yep, a numbers game and usually there are more co anglers that sign up than boaters. Those co-anglers that sign up for all three events in one region get placed before those that just sign up for one or two of the events. It's worth signing up for. It's a very well run organization with great people. If your looking for a pro there are a couple of walleye tournement sites out there that have message boards for this sort of thing.

The last I heard there were 60 co-anglers on the waiting list for Redwing. They will give preference to people doing the full circiut with boaters first. I have fished the league in the past as a boater and it was run very professionally.

This year I signed up a co-angler and hopefully get in. I did sign up with a boater but we are both only doing the Redwing event.

I just got off the phone with Sonny at FLW. There is indeed a 60+ waiting list for co- anglers.

They are just waiting for a few details to be finalized and they will be sending out the Mississippi River confirmations as early as this afternoon.

I've signed up for Red Wing about a month or more ago. When I called there a few weeks back they said I was on the waiting list. But they said many pros don't sign up until latter, so I should be good to go.

I don't remember getting my confirmation in the mail, but I get so much junk mail that that it could have slipped through. On the phone they told me they had my registration and I'm paid in full, so I'm not worried.

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
